OPEN CALL TO JOIN WOODS
ArkDes and STHLM DANS festival are inviting you to join the performance "Woods"!

Let’s turn the city upside down!

ArkDes and STHLM DANS festival are inviting you to join the performance Woods, a participative project that brings together dance, live performance and visual arts to create unique and powerful landscapes in the cities, pursuing the idea of impermanence and instability of the body, nature, climate and collective practices. While upside down, the body inverts space and questions time. For how long can the body resist? For how long can the forest resist?

This open call is addressed to people that practice headstand such as students of dance, yoga, hiphop, capoeira, circus and gymnastics, including all genders, backgrounds and ages. Together in a two day workshop we will talk about the concepts of the piece, practice the upside down posture and rehearse the choreography structure. We’ll exchange strategies, help and support each other in order to engage all the participants in this project as a collective act against the city concrete, the lack of nature, the climate changes, the missing trees and the forgotten woods.

The project will be led by the artists Catarina Saraiva (PT), Clarice Lima (BR), Nina Fajdiga (SL) and Aline Bonamin (BR).

When:
The workshop will take place on the 11th and 12th of May from 4pm to 8pm, at Kontempel Studio on Skeppsholmen
Performances will take place on the 13th and 14th of May (2 sessions per day) at ArkDes on Skeppsholmen.

Each participant will receive a compensation fee and shared meals will be served.
