STHLM DANS is back! Come and celebrate dance with us from 5 to 13 May 2026.
For our 5th anniversary, we convoke all your senses and your emotions – we invite you to be provoked, charmed and to shiver. To witness choreographies that reveal the human body in singular ways, from hand unisons to drag in full flesh, from uncanny posthuman moves to eerie body doubles. We invite you to dare seeing the images lying between your eyelids, to catch this thin line between dream and reality. Do you feel the goosebumps? Is this all a fantasy?
We don’t forget the ancestors and the multiple influences bubbling under the skin of the performers. The intimate and collective knowledge of dance is also at the centre of the programme, with several performances and talks looking at how we create and transmit our craft. Between different generations, bodies and traditions, dance is a constellation in constant evolution, for you to join in.
For this fifth edition, we are proud to bring a starry line up of artists from Sweden, Australia, Belarus, Estonia, France, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania and the UK.

All around Stockholm and Botkyrka – in museums and art galleries, in public spaces, libraries and theatres — dance will be everywhere and for everyone to enjoy, regardless of your background and age.
Expect more workshops, talks, parties and dance film programmes to complement the main programme, enabling you to experience dance in a 360-degree way and to get some time to reflect and move together. The Audience Club led by Anna Kozonina will be back for the third time, for dance lovers who want to take a deeper dive into the programme and find a friendly community.
And, big news! In May, we will host not only one but two festivals. The Baltic Take Over, which presents some of the most innovative artists from the Baltic region, is landing in Stockholm in partnership with Konträr and STHLM DANS, and is organised by the New Theatre Institute of Latvia, Kanuti Gildi SAAL and Lithuanian Dance Information Centre. Don’t miss a unique Baltic bonanza of performances, exchanges and talks 8-10 May!
We will also be welcoming a cohort of dance artists from all around Europe thanks to our participation in the Creative Europe funded Visiting Artists Programme. The artists will meet the local dance field, do site visits and follow the festival’s programme.
Full programme release and tickets on sale in a few weeks. Stay tuned, and keep moving!
