Moving with Time: Stories of Dance Makers introduces three Nordic dance artists and their life stories and professional careers: Charlotta Öfverholm (SE), Mia Habib (NO), and Samuli Emery (FI). It will be facilitated by Virve Sutinen. Audience members are invited to “the campfire” to listen and participate in the discussion. Moving with Time consists of public events that bring together dance makers of different ages and professional backgrounds. Storytelling is used as a tool to increase sectoral resilience and imagine possible futures together. Personal stories will also be used to reminisce about the contemporary history of dance. Moving with Time fosters dialogue between different generations, raising awareness of and appreciation for the field’s rich diversity. Public events invite professionals and the public to listen to, think about, and discuss work and life in dance. We believe collective remembrance fosters mutual empathy and transmits tacit knowledge.
From 2026 to 2027, Ars Navitas will organize seven storytelling events in Finland, Norway, and Sweden where dance professionals will discuss their education, careers, challenges, successes, and legacy. All events are organized in collaboration with key Nordic organizations as part of existing events or anniversary celebrations. The events are free of charge and will be documented for future use.
We will bring the fire!
